Eve

Guess what? I have a Christmas present for you! It will post tomorrow at 6am. Merry merry, I promise! No peeking...

Until then, I will admit I have slacked on the blog. Sue me. Even Coach says I have been sucking at it lately. I'm back, pinky swear. Plus tomorrow's treat will make up for it.

We left Atlanta on Monday at o'dark thirty and drove 733 miles to Chicago. The trip was fantastic, Coach treated us to breakfast in Tennesee at ... The Waffle House. Of course, Waffle Houses in Tennesee are the Prom Queens of all WHs. But if you've ever been there, you already knew that. The minis were still in pajamas when we arrived there, so we put Christmas hats on them. They were less than thrilled when the patrons at WH started asking them if they were Santa's helpers. I found it darling.

There was some sort of undercover police operation taking place there, and of course the cars in the parking lot told a story of their own. The beat to Hell pickup truck parked next to the Jag. It's all so very typical at the WH.

Later we stopped in Kentucky. I may or may not have scored 10 packs of candy cigarettes. I have no idea why I find them so hilarious (for adults, quit judging) but I do. I have to buy every variety they sell. I also snagged a couple of scratch-off lottery tickets in true redneck style. Top it off with a 44 oz Diet Dew and I was living in high cotton.

We got to Chicago late afternoon and the minis proceeded to go bananas over all the snow. WE haven't been North for a winter in 4 years, so I guess they forgot! They have been outside every day before 7am in parkas and pajamas. Coach and I picked up a couple of sleds for them and it's been downhill ever since...sorry, couldn't resist the pun.

Enjoy the rest of your Christmas Eve, we are off to early Mass.

See you tomorrow!

My Kind of Town

Packing today for Chicago to go and meet with my publisher.

Oh, wait. I don't have a publisher.

Just going to enjoy a week with my family and make merry!

Spirit

I clearly am in the Christmas spirit.

Letting the children stay up 20 extra minutes, hee hee. Seriously though, I really am trying to enjoy the month. Ignoring the blog. I know. It's terrible. But, you'll live. You're busy too, right?

Have been working a bunch, which I am eternally grateful for. Hosted a little "Cupcakes and Coffee" last week for my Atlanta girlfriends at my house. (Fab idea if I do say so myself. ) Wrapping and shopping and eating peppermint bark whilst listening to Christmas music. It's all very cliche.

And I love it. I told you I was going to live it up this Christmas. I might even try to do some baking this weekend...and Clemsongirl does not bake.

Heading to Chicago on Monday with Coach and the minis. It promises to be a week full of freezing temps and Granny and Papa to manage the children. Totally worth the wicked weather. Somewhat concerned that I don't really own any appropriate footwear for Chicago, but I digress.

Christmas cards are addressed, stamped and ready to be mailed. One problem. The photo. For some reason my camera is pixelating all the pics. Damn. I took the pics this summer (duh) for our card. When I had it printed...disaster. In any case, they WILL go out. Pinky swear.

What's your story?

42

In 2007, I posted this about Coach

Today, I ditto all of that.

Plus 2 more.

41. He has become increasingly hilarious lately. Something in the water perhaps?
42. He continues to amaze me with his parenting abilities. Blowing me out of the water even!
