Georgia A-Scary-ium

Georgia Aquarium hosted a Halloween event today (actually through this Sunday) and is free for children (under 12) in costume! The minis didn't have school today, so we piled in the monogrammed minivan and headed downtown.

The whole place was decked out for Halloween, Trick or Treat stations and decorations everywhere. That otter in the picture above? Playing with a carved pumpkin! The diver who gave Jack a Tiger Shark tooth he found in the tank? Dressed as Spiderman!

The departments at the Aquarium also had a pumpkin carving contest. I'm not trying to swing the vote, but just saying #8 was our favorite. A clownfish and his friends, covered in candy corn!

Yes! Dr. Jack and his brother the pirate. Jack told an elderly lady he couldn't look at her arm (which she said was hurting) because "I'm a pediatrician. I just fix kids."

Fabulous day with my minis, and much needed time with Mommy. They informed me today they are "too old" to call me Mommy. That was just before they begged from the back seat, "MOMMY! Please please can we go to The Varsity and get an F.O.?"

Too old to call me Mommy? I thinketh not. Just don't spill that F.O. on my upholstery.

Merry Merry Swap!

It's that time again! Hard to believe because it's 78 and humid in Atlanta. Bleh.

Christmas is just 8 weeks away, my favorite time of the year! Except maybe Back to School...heehee.

So we're doing the swap again...yes? It is so fun and everyone loves participating. My boxes have always been full of perfection!

Rules are the same as they always have been. Leave a comment WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, I will match partners in 1 week. Then you can email each other to get more info, monograms and style.

Send a box of Christmas happies of your choice to your partner on December 1st. Spend roughly $25-30 plus shipping. Paper products, decor, mugs, candy, accessories...the possibilities are endless. Just make it preppy and fun.

Love you girls!

Please leave your comments on this post, so it's easier for me to keep up with the list!

Think v. Feel

I need to be getting some shut eye right now. I have another full day tomorrow and Heaven knows I could use the beauty sleep, but I've got stuff to say. So sit tight. I can't promise it's going to be a fun one. However? I have always told it like it is my friends. Always.

A BFF said recently, "I don't know how I feel until I say what I think." Dead right. I absolutely have to say/type what I think, then I can determine what I feel. So here goes...

Today, I think I am failing. Flailing. Drowning. Not succeeding in any area of my life. (Except of course, the hair department. It's so damn long and the Barbie flip is in full force, duh)

It's no secret that the real estate market is well...in the commode. Except it really shouldn't be. Rates are below 4% and inventory is abundant. All of us should be out buying up bigger homes for less money and investment properties left and right. (9/10 times, they have a positive cash flow as a rental...just saying) However, my business is slow and that makes me think: fail.

The minis. Oh, the stinking minis. We are still fighting the Jack v. Reading battle, which is now becoming a full fledged war. We've called in reinforcements and back up troops. Tonight he cried and slammed his book shut. Makes me think: fail.

Ryan. Dear Lord that's the smartest child I know. Much like his Mama, he has so much going on in his head sometimes it's just too much. So, he occasionally leaves the reservation and ... puts a banana peel in someone's gym bag. Yes. That happened today. Is it funny? Pretty much. Is it appropriate? Notsomuch. Makes me think: fail.

Those, along with some others not worth mentioning start to make me feel: fail.

But no. I am not a failure. I have standards too damn high and expectations beyond my reach today. I am busting my arse and I have a plan. I can only control my actions, not the thoughts, emotions and behavior of others.

So tonight, while I can't say I think: success, I can tell you I feel: determined.

Moonlighting

I burn my candle at both ends
It will not last the night.
But ah my foes and oh my friends
It gives a lovely light.
-Edna St. Vincent Millay

I've been absent from the blog. Intermittent at best. "Twabsent" on Twitter.

I've been moonlighting. Working for anyone and everyone who will hire me to do just about anything. Sell your house? Absolutely! Help you buy a house? Sure thing! Work your fabulous booth at Mistletoe Market? You bet! Stage your home? Yes ma'am! Professionally organize everything you own? Alrighty!

Got to cast a wide net. We were lucky enough to have my Mom here last week, she completely took over the house and the minis. She filled my freezer with dozens of awesome meals (again!) and picked the minis up every single day. Took them to soccer and church and dinner, everything. Laundry, cleaning, groceries...all of it! She drove home at 4:30 am all the way from Atlanta to Chicago and is substitute teaching in the morning. So, when you ask me where I learned all my tricks? That'd be her. Thanks for everything Mom. I love you!

So needless to say, been burning the candle at both ends.

But the light is lovely.

Makeover

This week I really left the reservation. I picked up some (stretchy) skinny jeans and a new raisin colored cardi. Both items way out of my comfort zone, and both courtesy of a gift card from my brother. Both are very trendy and fall-like. It was 44 this morning and 67 this afternoon, what in the world am I supposed to wear on a day like that?! I still need a few things to round out the fall closet...which you know come from whateversonsale!

I also talked to a real sweetie about a blog makeover, which is coming soon! I have been blogging for so long and from a place of just telling you like it is, that I sort of missed the wave of header updates, etc. I have spent the last 1156 (ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY SIX!) posts just telling you what I think. What I feel and what I know.

You've been so loyal and supportive, even after a babillion new bloggers came on the scene. You stuck with me and my magic pants and lip gloss. I so appreciate that. You'll be rewarded with an update visual. heehee

Stay tuned.

Smooches.

Monday

I love a Monday. Fresh start. Clean slate.

Today I was a total crab. Save for the sub I delivered to Coach on the field, I wasn't all that pleasant to anyone.

Work it out.
